I managed to convince my good friend and reliable travel companion, Liz, to drive out to Colorado with me so I could volunteer for two weeks at my favorite place in the world, Young Life's Frontier Ranch.  Okay, so convincing her to come to Colorado with me is never a very difficult task since we both love that place wih its epic montains beckoning you out of doors, even (or should I say especially?) with the winter's blankets of snow.  The drive out there seemed too long, however, since I brought along a bug from Honduras that gave me the worst stomach ache of my life and left me writhing in the fetal position in the passenger seat.  Liz flew back after a week, which gave us time to explore the area, do some cross country skiiing and shopping, and catch up with old friends.  After she left I continued to work alongside my new friends, Frontier's year-long iterns, to make sure New Staff Training went off without a hitch.

When my church, Riverside Church, mentioned they would be taking a missions trip to Central America I was immediately interested because I love grasping opportunities go to different places and see and be and do there, especially if that means I will also get to brush up on those three years of high school Spanish.  Our week with the Micah Project in Tegucigalpa was an awesome experience of cross-cultural relationship building.  Unlike other mission trips where you primarily drop in, build something and leave, this experience allowed us six Americans from a small church in Webster Groves to befriend some young boys and men who were brought from the streets and into the hope of redemption.  Although we did fix up some stuff around the house, we primarily hugged and played and communicated love.  It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back.
